| If you are a potential future resident but have no interest or capacity for helping build Alternia please start at our homepage: www.alternia.org Collaborate and help build Alternia The statistics say that 9 out of 10 community forming efforts fail. This means that: 1) there is a large number of people out there with a strong longing to live in community and 2) it takes an elite group of very special people with very special personalities and skills to create a project of this nature. We have those skills but due to the magnitude of the project we need a few more dedicated people to form a solid group which can make a difference in the world and succeed where many others have failed. Forming a thriving eco-village and community of 150-200 people is only one aspect of this project. In the process we are planning to challenge and bring forth change in legislation to make communal living legal (which, in effect, it is not!) and easier and to pave the way for building community in the future. Major political campaigning and media outreach will have to be part of this process.Prerequisites: Long term and serious commitment (after a trial period). Realistic outlook and understanding that building Alternia is a project of gigantic proportions requiring tremendous skills, experience, dedication and self discipline and that it may take years of dedicated, seemingly unrewarding labor before things are starting to take shape. 6h/week minimum time commitment. Reading of the book "Creating a life together" by Diane Leaf Christian. Essential to read for anyone interested in community. 1 meeting per week (likely East Bay) and occasional trips to Sonoma county. Our website is geared towards future residents rather than towards collaborators. Please download our presentation to our investors to give you a better idea of Alternia from a business angle: alterna.org/presentation.pdf. If you would like to be instrumental in building Alternia as a core member please contact Kurt at (415) 725-4254.
